Service Tool Utility Upgrades

Upgrading a server’s NOS software does not completely fulfill a system administrator’s upgrade responsibilities. There are various utility programs that also deserve serious attention when the server network is scheduled for an overhaul. Among the candidates for consideration are utility programs designed for managing RAID systems, SCSI components, server system configurations, and external storage arrays.

RAID Utility Upgrades

Although a server system that receives its first RAID configuration can be thought of as being upgraded, most upgrades involve RAID systems that are already installed and are either being enlarged with more drives being added, or updated by patches or completely new versions having more features or capacity.
