3.5. Activity Diagrams

This section discusses a diagram form that is used to model flows. The activity diagrams of UML 1.x have been widely used in all kinds of domains—business process modeling [Oesterreich 2004c], systems engineering [Weilkiens 2006], and requirements analyses to algorithms. All these domains have gained much experience in UML-specific diagramming. In particular, problems have been identified and limits have been sounded out. These findings have been introduced in the activity diagrams of UML 2 (see Figure 3.107).
