Increasingly, I give presentations through videoconferencing or video streaming. It is important to understand the technology. For example, the observers often experience a delay between what they hear and what they see on the screen. If, during the presentation, we are attempting to interact, we cannot talk over the top of each other. One person needs to finish talking before another person begins. I have to anticipate when someone is about to talk and let them start and finish before I jump in. This can get annoying if it is not handled carefully, so it is to your advantage to work with the technician to make sure you know how the technology functions.

Keep in mind that no one looks great on video without makeup and it adds twenty pounds to your figure. Don’t get distracted if you see yourself on screen.
