Chapter 12. Importing and Exporting Data > Copying Data to Another Program

Copying Data to Another Program

Access has many powerful tools and techniques you can use to transfer data or receive it from a variety of other programs, but there may be times when all you want to do is copy a few records in a table and paste them into another document. Because Access uses standard Windows cutting and pasting, it's easy to copy only a few records.

To copy data to a word processing document:

1.
Open in Datasheet view the table (or query) with the records you want to copy.

2.
Click the row selector of the first record you want to copy data from and drag the mouse pointer until you've highlighted every record you want to copy (Figure 12.36).

The rows you select must be adjacent to each other in the table.

3.
Choose Edit > Copy.

4.
Open the target file, select the location where you want the records to appear, and choose Edit > Paste.

Your records appear in the target file, formatted as a table (Figure 12.37).
