We have traveled through the architecture of Oracle Application Server 10g, starting with the HTTP server and progressing through each of the major components used to run Discoverer. As you have observed, the Discoverer Server presents a great many configuration options designed to fit into your enterprise’s landscape. In this section we described the basic components of a Discoverer installation and showed you how to configure all of the various components. We showed you how to use OEM to configure Discoverer for a corporate look and feel. We also showed you how to configure Discoverer for use with Single Sign-On. After describing all of the preferences that you can set for the Discoverer mid-tier, we showed you how to use Web Cache and how to configure it to load-balance multiple Discoverer servers. The only way to really become familiar with configuring the Discoverer mid-tier is to explore and test different options. Don’t worry, though, because you can always roll back—that is, if you remembered to take backups when we told you!
