Part I: Getting Started with Discoverer > Getting Started in Discoverer

Chapter 3. Getting Started in Discoverer

In this chapter, you will learn about the importance of some key members of your Discoverer team. Depending upon the complexity of your environment, you will have one or more of the following: a Discoverer manager, a library manager, a DBA, an Apps administrator, and a report writer. Developing good relationships with these key personnel can be very beneficial in your successful use of Discoverer.

We will introduce you to some important terms that will be useful to your success in using Discoverer, and we will also extend the concept of the Discoverer library. You will also learn how Discoverer manages SQL queries and their interaction with your source database. You will come to understand the process that must be followed prior to gaining access to the system, and gain some insight into what happens behind the scenes.
