Tracking Job Costs

To see the costs assigned or allocated to a project, use the Jobs, Time & Mileage Reports, which are available when you choose Reports⇒Jobs, Time & Mileage. You can experiment with the different reports to see which provides the information in a format and at a level of detail that works best for you. For example, if you’re invoicing customers by job and collecting cost data by customer and job, you can produce great job-profitability reports that show what you’ve made by job. Also note that you can budget amounts by customer and job (using the budgeting technique described in Chapter 13). If you do the extra work of budgeting by job, you can also compare actual job income and costs with budgeted job income and costs.
