3.3 Descriptive Statistics with the JMP Distribution Platform

Descriptive results are often more suggestive than conclusive. Interpretations of descriptive statistics need to be firmed up by inferential statistics discussed in later chapters. The discussion in this section covers one variable at a time. For analyzing a single variable, JMP uses the Distribution platform on the Analyze menu to present both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics discussed in later chapters.

3.3.1 Describing a Continuous Variable

This section focuses on generating a variety of descriptive statistics and graphs. The interpretation is covered in the next section. The following is a systematic outline for obtaining results for the continuous variable Number of Orders.
