Chapter 2. Installing Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 for the Developer

In this chapter, we walk you through the set-up process for a single developer working on a single workstation or server. Should you get stuck along the way, the troubleshooting guide at the end will help you to get past common problems encountered in the installation process.

We are going to use MCMS 2002 with Service Pack 1a in this book. If you have the earlier Released To Manufacturing version (RTM) of MCMS 2002, you can install the RTM version and then upgrade it. We will cover both installation scenarios below, though we recommend you get your hands on a full SP1a version if you can.
