Our network admin asked if I could help him out by learning something about SQL Server maintenance plans and recommending what we should do, so I definitely fall into the "accidental DBA" category.  This book was exactly what I was looking for to give me a good general overview of what should be done, what could be done easily, and I think there are probably things that I will need to learn beyond the scope of the book, such as using Powershell or T-SQL to perform some more in-depth portions of the plan.
