Chapter 10. RAC Performance Management > Tuning the Cluster Interconnect

10.12. Tuning the Cluster Interconnect

Oracle uses cluster interconnect for sending messages to coordinate data block access and for sending copies of data blocks from one instance's cache to another instance's cache to optimize disk I/O. Therefore, cluster interconnect performance is crucial to RAC performance. Its configuration and proper functioning is one of the most important parts of RAC performance tuning.

10.12.1. Verify That Private Interconnect Is Used

In Oracle Database 10g, you can specify the private interconnect while configuring the CRS. Ensure that the private interconnect is used for Cache Fusion traffic. Also ensure that the private interconnect is not used by other network-intensive functions such as FTP and rcp commands between the cluster nodes as it might impact the RAC performance.
