This short chapter describes the installation procedures for all optional Grid Control clients. These clients, the EM Java Console (including Change Manager), the Adobe SVG Viewer, the EM Command Line Interface (EM CLI), and Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM), all play a part in realizing Grid Control’s full capabilities. The EM Java Console, which includes the Change Manager application, supplies some vestiges of functionality still not available in the GC Web Console. The Adobe SVG Viewer provides the topology diagrams for certain targets. EM CLI affords a way to script Console tasks, which is especially useful in replacing repetitive, time-consuming Console navigation. The OCM is a strange bird in that it is not an exclusive Grid Control product. It is bundled not only with Grid Control 10.2.0.2 and subsequent patch sets, but also with the installers for other product releases and patch sets, and can be installed as a standalone application to boot. OCM is an important tool that Oracle Support uses to gather information about the Grid Control infrastructure and its targets in helping to resolve service requests.
