ADF Region Interaction Use Cases

An ADF region that is located in a view usually does not live in isolation, but needs to integrate with the application context of the view. To enable communication, ADF regions provide hook points in addition to contextual events that developers can use to pass information in and out or to send events. Three patterns of interaction can be identified for ADF regions in Oracle Fusion application development:

  • ADF region to parent view A region communicates back to its parent view—for example, to enforce navigation.

  • Parent view to ADF region The parent view calls out to the ADF region to refresh it or to invoke or pass an event with or without payload.

  • ADF region to ADF region Logically dependent regions exchange events and messages to synchronize their state.
