Welcome to the first of three chapters in this book about database design. If you’ve followed along faithfully until now, well done. Several chapters were needed to cover the SELECT statement in detail, so that we could gain an appreciation for how tabular data is extracted from the database, filtered, summarized, presented, and sequenced.
