Here are a few extra best practices to help you as you work.

Don’t be too clever

I know you’re proud of yourself and all the things you’ve learned about page layout, both here and elsewhere, but this might tempt you to use a feature in your project that others may not understand. For instance, you might know how to reset the page numbering to page 1 in the middle of the document, but if your co-workers don’t understand what you’ve done, that numbering will just make them wonder about what’s going on with the file.

If you use an advanced feature in your file, explain clearly how it works to any colleagues who work with the file. The most brilliant features are no help to the people down the road if they don’t understand what is going on in the document.
