Chapter 12. Discrete-Time Fourier Series... > Properties of the Discrete-time Four...

Properties of the Discrete-time Fourier Series

We will use the notation to represent a DTFS pair. The properties of the DTFS are similar to those of continuous-time Fourier series. All signals in the following subsections are assumed to be periodic with fundamental period N, unless otherwise specified. The DTFS coefficients are often called the spectral coefficients. The properties of the DTFS are summarized in Table D.9 in Appendix D.

Linearity

The operation of calculating the DTFS of a periodic signal is linear.
