Summary

In this chapter, you learned about coexistence between Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2007. You learned about Exchange Server 2007’s requirement that the product be installed only into a native-mode legacy Exchange organization as well as about some of the tasks that are automatically performed when you create a coexistence environment. Further, you learned about the importance of Exchange Server 2007 legacy routing group connectors and about how SMTP connectors are affected when running different versions of Exchange side by side. Probably most important, you learned from where specific Exchange features should be administered in order to avoid significant problems in your Exchange organization as well as how to enable and disable public folder referrals between Exchange versions.

In the next chapter, you learn what you need to do in order to eliminate this coexistence situation and return to a single-version Exchange organization.
