Impacts of Wind Generators on the Dynamic Performance of Power Systems mechanical modes are investigated (Slootweg & Kling, 2003) despite the voltage modes also being influenced by the penetration of wind generators. The limits for voltage stability at different wind power integration levels and grid alternatives are illustrated (Palsson, et al., 2002) for situations both with and without extra stabilizing controls in the system and for different characteristics of wind turbine generators. Detailed dynamic load modeling and fault analysis are not treated (Pals- son, et al., 2002). However, load characteristics are closely related to voltage instability. The issues of interconnecting large wind parks to an electrical power network are discussed and possible solutions to anticipated problems using AC and DC transmission technologies and FACTS devices with energy storage are presented in (En- slin, et al., 2003). The impact of grid-connected large DFIG-based wind farms on power system transient stability is studied in detail, including evaluate the response of a power grid to a short circuit fault in the transmission system. Technical issues relating to the integration of large wind power into weak grids with long transmission lines, together with the most significant challenges for wind generation facilities, including voltage control, reactive power management, dynamic power-swing stability and behaviour follow- ing disturbances in a power grid, are addressed in Piwko et al. (2006). It is shown in Piwko et al. (2006) that the decoupled characteristics of variable wind power plants with grids ensure stability performances that can exceed those of conventional synchronous generations with the same ratings and installed at the same locations. Although much work has been done, the following issues have not yet been addressed in detail: (1) the effects of importing a higher level of power from remote generation with high a penetra- tion of FACTS devices; (2) the effects of a high
