P > POLARIZATION - Pg. 198

POINT, MONITOR POINT, MONITOR Describes one or more points in a subsystem or system used to observe or measure responses of the subsystem or system. Monitor points for determining unacceptable response shall be at the system or subsystem output and need not be electri- cal in nature. Monitor points used in conjunction with critical points to determine that no inadvertent responses exist may be located at either internal system points or at the system or sub- system output. If monitor points are chosen at internal subsystem locations, particular caution must be exercised to ensure that the monitoring instrumentation does not influence the test results. POLARITY The condition in an electrical circuitry by which the direction of the flow of current can be determined. Usually applied to batteries and other direct voltage sources. POLARIZATION (1) A technique of eliminating symmetry within a plane so that parts can be engaged in only one way so as to mini- mize the possibility of electrical and mechanical damage or mal- function. (2) A shift in electrode potential from the open-circuit
