Unboxing Your Kinect

If you purchased your Kinect bundled in with an Xbox 360 4GB or 250GB, you should find the Kinect Sensor and a copy of Kinect Adventures! in the box. (While other games may be included with special bundles, Kinect Adventures! remains the one common denominator.) Inside the Kinect Adventures! box is a game manual and a calibration card. If you purchased the Kinect sans console, an additional power supply is included if you need to hook up your Kinect sensor to an older Xbox 360 model, which does not have a dedicated Kinect port.

Kinect Sensor

The Kinect sensor, which is the obvious star of the show, is a horizontal bar that contains several video cameras and microphones. Its sophisticated software technology makes it highly sensitive for recognizing voices, faces, and gestures. The sensor tracks movements in 3D, and its tracking capability is facilitated by the small motorized pivot that serves as its base, enabling the sensor to follow the subjects in focus. It can recognize up to six players at once; although, it can track only up to four active users at a time.
