Accessing Kinect on the Dashboard
After setting up the Kinect sensor, as described in Chapter 10, “Getting to Know Kinect,” you can activate Kinect from the Xbox 360 Dashboard by speaking to or waving at the sensor.
Whether it’s your pets, kids, or your friends and family, the one thing the Kinect does not handle well when starting up is distraction. Whether it’s excessive noise or someone walking between you and the sensor, you’ll have difficulty engaging Kinect with your voice or gestures if the sensor can’t distinguish between you and what’s going on around you.
Using Your Voice
To activate Kinect by speaking, do the following:
1. At the Xbox Dashboard, say “Xbox.” Speak loud and clear.
2. After the Kinect speech bar opens, say one of the commands shown.
