Chapter 15: Organizations as Humans > Death of the Organization and Rebirth

Death of the Organization and Rebirth

As is the case with all natural things, an organization at some point must pass away. While some organizations invariably last longer than some of their peers, no organization has been present since the dawn of man. At some point, all things pass on, and like humans, an organization must prepare to effectively die. For a human, identification of death is a simple, unchanging binary process: a person is either alive or dead. However, organizations in the modern world may effectively die, or go into bankruptcy, and reemerge several years later as a healthy, adept organization. This notion of death is somewhat akin to a Buddhist's belief in reincarnation, although to the authors' knowledge, no organization has yet achieved spiritual nirvana.
