Customizing Your KML Presentation An example of an informative and attractive style for KML balloons and placemarks is the Jane Goodall Institute blog, which describes firsthand observations of chimpanzee life in Gombe, Africa. Figure 2-1 shows placemarks and titles of various blog posts on this website (www.janegoodall.org/gombe-chimp-blog/). This site uses two custom icons. The chimpanzee icons link to profiles of individual chimpanzees, and the binoc- ulars icons link to blog posts by naturalist Emily Wroblewski. Figure 2-2 shows the custom balloon style used by all the blog placemarks on this site. This balloon style uses an HTML table to position the two columns of text, as well as custom colors for text and the background. It also demonstrates use of an image link (to add the photograph) and hyperlinks to other web pages.
