Frame Rates

By default, Captivate projects play at a rate of 30 Flash frames per second. At 30 Flash frames per second, a caption that appears for one second would require 30 Flash frames. Similar to Captivate, Flash can be used to create sophisticated presentations that integrate video, text, audio and graphics. Since the tools and features found in Flash are more robust than Captivate, it would take significantly longer to master Flash than Captivate.

Of course, the powerful array of tools found in Flash also allow you to create projects above and beyond what you can create with Captivate. For instance, you have limited control of a final Captivate project’s interface above and beyond what you captured, the project’s skin (you will learn about skins on page 211), interactivity, animation and inserted graphics. But using Flash, you can control every detail of the project’s interface. Since Captivate is relatively easy to use, many people create the initial projects in Captivate, and then import them into Flash where enhancements can be added.
