Chapter 1. The Box Is Open…Now What? > Starting and Turning Off Your Computer

Starting and Turning Off Your Computer

Now that you've connected your mouse, keyboard, and monitor, go ahead and plug your computer into a power outlet. I recommend that you use a surge protector. Plug your computer into the surge protector and the surge protector into the wall. This protects your computer from damage in the event of a power surge. Now, you're ready to turn your computer on.

Turning Your Computer On

All HP Pavilions have a power button on the front of the CPU, although the exact location may differ somewhat. To start your computer, simply press the power button. It will take a few moments for the computer to start up.
