Safari Books Online is a digital library providing on-demand subscription access to thousands of learning resources.
Another feature introduced with iOS 5 is Notification Center, a handy place to view tidbits of information such as the local weather, stock prices, email subject headings, Twitter messages addressed to you, text messages, reminders, and calendar events.
Notification Center makes its presence known in a couple of ways. The first is on the lock screen. If you’ve configured notifications to appear here (I discuss how to do this in Chapter 2), when you unlock your iPhone or iPod touch by clicking the Home button when the device is asleep, you’ll see short notifications: calendar events scheduled for that day, for example, or the first bit of an email message you’ve received.
To see a more complete list of notifications, unlock your device, tap the time at the very top of the screen, and swipe down. When you do, your notifications appear (Figure 1.4).
