The 4G iPod touch, iPhone 4, and iPhone 4S have two cameras: one on the back and another on the front. Although the 4G iPod touch is similar in form to the iPhone 4 and 4S, its rear-facing camera isn’t nearly as good as the one on the iPhones. The iPhone 4S’s 8-megapixel camera captures still images at a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels, the iPhone 4’s 5-megapixel camera shoots stills at a resolution of 2592 x 1936 pixels, and the iPod touch’s 0.7-megapixel rear-facing back camera captures JPEG images at a resolution of just 720 x 960 pixels—definitely poorer results than either of the iPhones. All these devices include a 5x digital zoom.
These devices can also shoot video. The rear-facing camera on the iPhone 4 and 4G iPod touch can shoot 720p HD movies (1280 x 720 pixels), and the iPhone 4S shoots 1080p video (1920 x 1080 pixels) from this camera. The front-facing camera produces lower resolution on all these devices, shooting JPEG still images at 640 x 480 pixels.
