You already know how to download books free of charge from the iBookstore after reading the chapter “Shopping in the Stores.” Now you need to know how to use the iPhone optimally for reading these books. Just as with shopping for books, the iBooks app is the right software for the job.

Reading Books on Your iPhone

Open the book you want to read by tapping it. At the top and bottom edge of the book you will then see various function buttons. Tap the book once to make these disappear. This way, you can read the text better without the buttons getting in the way. Tap the book again to display the buttons.

Right at the bottom in the middle you can see how many pages the book has and which page you are on at the moment (1). Our example book has 1,015 pages. But this page number is not fixed. Depending on how large you make the font on the screen, the number of pages can change.
