New and exclusive to the iPhone 4S is the voice control Siri. If you hold the Home button for a while or lift the iPhone to your ear when it’s unlocked, you will see the Siri icon on the screen and hear a sound. Now you can start with the speech input. When setting up or activating the iPhone 4S, you will be asked if you want to enable Siri.
Do you want to use Siri? Of course!
Siri can process two types of information: First, you can simply speak commands that get Siri to enter appointments in your calendar, search the Internet for search terms, and so on. The other option is to dictate text that Siri can then enter into an e-mail or other message (for example iMessage). If you want to have punctuation marks in your text, simply say “comma,” “full stop,” and so on, or for a new line say “new line.” And of course you can also use a mixture of the two, so for example you can say, “Please send my wife a message to tell her that I will be home an hour late from work today.”
