In comparison to the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 4 or 3GS has a simpler version of voice control, but it still works reliably to operate the telephone and iPod. You start it by pressing the Home button for about three seconds until the Voice Control screen appears. Then release the button and say the command.
You can select phone numbers or operate the iPod via voice control.
For example, the command could be “Call Jane Smith mobile.“ If there is an entry for that name in the phone book and the mobile number is saved, the number is dialed automatically.
Say a name and a number type, and if the number is in the iPhone phone book, it will be dialed automatically.
If you are not sure which numbers are available for a name, you can just say “Call John Smith.“ The iPhone then tells you all available numbers. If you then say “at home” or “mobile,” it’s clear who you want to call, and you do not need to repeat the name; the phone dials the number automatically.
