Camera

First, please note that the Camera app works both in portrait and landscape orientations, just as many other apps on the iPhone. Depending on what you are taking a photo or making a video of, you can choose which format you would like instead of being limited to just one orientation. iOS 5 automatically adapts the display of the Camera app to the current orientation and also enables you to view media in the correct orientation later so you don’t risk that a video topples over in the iPhone’s video memory.

The Camera App Interface

When you start the Camera app, regardless whether in portrait or landscape orientation, you will see this interface:

This is the Camera app of iOS 5.

In the main section of the app (1), you can see the subject. Below that is the function bar. If you move the slider on the right (2), you switch from photo to video and back. In the center is the trigger (3). In photo mode, it shows a camera icon; in video mode, it’s a red dot. Press the button to take a photo or start recording a video. Press it again to stop recording.
