You’ve seen how to access the Siri assistant by raising the phone to your ear and by pressing and holding the Home button. Another element of Siri appears on your iPhone keyboard outside the standard assistant interface: the dictation microphone. As Figure 7-2 shows, the microphone appears just to the left of the spacebar and to the right of the numeric toggle on the standard keyboard. Tapping this microphone offers another way to access Siri features.

Make sure you match the Siri dictation to the language you are using. You may add keyboards via Settings, General, Keyboard, International Keyboards, Add New Keyboards. When you use multiple keyboards, select from these by tapping the globe icon. This icon appears only when you have enabled more than one language. In early Siri releases, Australian dictation users need to use the English (UK) keyboard.
