Set Mail Preferences

This chapter has discussed a number of Mail Preferences tools already, but there are several more that you should explore as you use Mail.

These include the General, Fonts & Colors, Viewing, and Composing preferences. You use the General tab to set general Mail preferences, such as sound effects, where attachments are stored, and what location to include in searches. You use the Viewing and Composing preferences to configure how you view and write e-mail.

Press +.

Click the General tab.

On the Check for new messages pop-up menu, choose how often you want Mail to check for new messages.

On the New messages sound pop-up menu, choose the sound you want to hear when you receive new messages.
