Understanding Web Search Results

The search results on the Western Crowned Pigeon highlight the three types of searches Bing can provide for you on your phone:

Web—The results on this pane show web pages that may be of interest to you as you search for information. It also shows one or two sponsored sites that may be of interest, or may be easily skipped.

Local—The results here show anything nearby that matches the search term. Presumably there are no Western Crowned Pigeon breeders in the area of Manhattan, so the results sadly come up empty.

Figure 9–6. News results.

News—Shockingly, there are no news stories pertaining to our feathered friend. However, it's easy to compose a search that will retrieve some news about a given search subject, as shown in Figure 9–7. Tapping a story will take you to the web page, so you can read the entire article in all its shocking detail (see Figure 9–8).
