Creating your own original game is one part inspiration and 99 parts play testing. A lot of ideas sound good on paper and may even look good if you create the board and playing pieces for them. But many games end up being too complicated, too confusing, or just plain boring. Play testing involves actually sitting down with other players and observing your game in action.
