5. Adding and Formatting Text > Inserting Glossary Entries

Inserting Glossary Entries

Every book template includes a glossary, which starts out empty. To view the glossary, click Glossary in the Book pane in the sidebar (Figure 5.9). You can’t delete the Glossary element from a template, but if you leave it empty, your published book won’t have a glossary.

Figure 5.9. You can add terms to the glossary and create links to related terms.

You can add glossary entries (terms and definitions) at any time. When reading the book on an iPad, the reader can tap a glossary term to view its definition in a pop-up window (Figure 5.10) or view the term in the glossary index, which includes related glossary terms and index links. A term’s index links let the reader jump between the term’s occurrences in the book (showing its various contexts) and the term in the glossary index (showing its definition and related terms).
