Hiding Unwanted Photos

Not every photo is a gem, nor even a presentable pebble. When you import the photos you’ve shot, it’s common to end up with some that you don’t want. They may be too blurry, or obscured by your hand or a passerby who stepped into the frame at exactly the wrong moment. You can, of course, discard the photo, but iPhoto also has several features you can use to protect your eyes from an unattractive or unusable image without deleting it.

The easiest way to preserve your aesthetic vision without deleting these photos permanently is to conceal them from view. For example, the Rope Swing Event contains several pictures of boys swinging on a rope swing. One of those pictures, though an otherwise fine action shot, is blurry and not framed very well. Although you could discard the photo (as you’ll see how to do later in this lesson), you might not be ready to take that step, so you can hide the photo instead:
