Interactive Home Control

The simplest home automation setup, naturally enough, is found in the starter kits sold by many home automation vendors. A typical X10-based home automation kit, for example, consists of a radio frequency remote control, a transceiver that plugs into an AC wall outlet, and some lamp and appliance control modules. Such a starter kit enables you to turn lamps and appliances on and off at the touch of a button (see Figure 1.3).
