Chapter 2. Startup

Chapter 2. Startup

It's time to get started! First, you will launch CorelDraw 9, then add a shortcut for the CorelDraw 9 program to your Windows desktop. From there you will create a new document, open an existing one, and save a document. Then you will discover how to import and export graphics and text, close a document, and exit CorelDraw 9. Finally, you will learn how to restore a damaged CorelDraw file using a backup file that is created automatically for you by CorelDraw.

To launch CorelDraw 9:

1.
On the Windows desktop, click the Start button on the Status Bar, move up to the Programs item, and select it.

2.
On the Programs fly-out select the CorelDraw 9 program folder. (This is the default location where the CorelDraw 9 installation program places the program group.)

3.
On the fly-out, click CorelDraw 9 (Figure 1).
