syn₂cat shares space in an old school building with another organization, making for cheap rent but limiting their space. “We’re allowed to occupy two of the four rooms,” member Georges Kesseler described. “Both rooms still feature the chalkboard from its school days. We designated one room as the workshop/lab room, while the other one is our chill-out room where most of our meetings take place.”

The organization has equipped its chill-out room, also called the “ChillyChill,” with sofas, chairs, and a light-up coffee table. “It also features a self-built bar holding a three-month supply of Club-Mate and a kitchen with two fridges and three microwave ovens,” Kesseler said. “The lab room has a dedicated corner for soldering work. People’s lockers are also located there as well as many cupboards with electronic stuff and tables to work on. A nice book library holds a lot of technical knowledge to read through.”
