STARTING INNOVATION EMBEDMENT: WHIRLPOOL'S CULTURE AND VALUES

The extensive efforts to analyze, codify, and repair our culture and values described above predated innovation embedment. However, they proved invaluable to the embedment practitioners and top leadership in preparing us for innovation. Almost unknowingly, we had been assessing and addressing the Whirlpool culture over the years, and as a result, we had already analyzed what aspects of our culture were enablers and which created barriers. Through that earlier work, we already had a sense of what in our culture would positively or negatively affect our innovation embedment process.
