Power Through the People

Worthwhile results as a leader can only be achieved with and through other people. This section looks at how to get the best from other people, particularly examining how best to create great teams and motivate each individual person in the team – including yourself!

Focusing solely on the task and ignoring the team and the individual is a beginner's error in leadership. Alas, there are too many beginners today! Doing this is surprisingly still common – especially when the pressure is on and the stress levels are running high.

In order to motivate people you need to understand how human nature works – and then work with the grain. And you should love people, in the sense that you really want to help them to give their best – for both their and the common good.
