Inflammatory Bowel Disorders

There are two major inflammatory bowel diseases: Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. People 10–30 years of age have the greatest risk of developing these disorders. The causes are unknown, but these disorders can be triggered by agents such as pesticides, food additives, and radiation. A connection might also exist between a client’s allergies or immune system.

Crohn’s Disease (Regional Enteritis)

Crohn’s disease is an inflammation of segments of the bowel, which leads to swelling, thickening, and abscess formation. The following lists symptoms associated with Crohn’s disease:
