While studying for the NCLEX exam the nurse should be aware of cultural differences among ethnic groups. Key points in the chapter include respect for the client and the family and formulation of a therapeutic client-nurse relationship. The nurse must be aware that because the client believes differently from the nurse the client is not necessarily wrong. The NCLEX expects the nurse to be aware of the time and situation when she needs to perform duties for the client and when the nurse should allow the family or client to care for himself. This regard for the individual as it relates to culture is an integral part of the exam.
