Through the years CR has gradually replaced many conventional screen/film projection radiography procedures, and it has been successfully integrated in PACS operation. The advantages are that it produces a digital image, eliminates the use of films, requires a minimal change in the radiographic procedure room, and the image quality is acceptable for most examinations.
