88 How to Manage Meetings · Examine the procedures of the group: how often you meet, how long since you changed personnel, whether you act democratically. Closing the meeting Closing the meeting well is as important as opening it well. The group is about to disperse. We should show everyone what they have achieved, acknowledge their success and thank them for their efforts. And we must also make sure that people commit to taking action. Chapter 6 contains more details about gaining commitment to actions at the end of a meeting. It's important to delegate as many actions as possible (or, ideally, all of them). This will relieve you of some of the burden, give participants ownership of the
