17 Uplink transmission scheme In Chapter 16, a detailed overview of the LTE downlink transmission scheme was provided. In this chapter, a similar overview will be provided for the LTE uplink transmission scheme. 17.1 The uplink physical resource As already mentioned in the overview provided in Chapter 14, LTE uplink transmis- sion is based on so-called DFTS-OFDM transmission. As described in Chapter 5, DFTS-OFDM is a low-PAR `single-carrier' transmission scheme that allows for
