Although the author suggests that this book is aimed primarily at readers who have a certification-level of experience and knowledge, the fact is that this book is actually a great place to start for people (such as myself) who have little (accurate) understanding of networking.  

It blends background, context and relevant history, the current state of the art and specific real world examples.

It also blends informality and precision.  This book should be read by anyone who aspires to write high tech how-to's and reference works.
