Tim Aldrich graduated from the University of Oregon in 1990 while running his own computer consulting service. He took a job working as a civil servant for the U.S. Navy in 1991, working on computer simulation systems, and moved to San Diego, California. After a number of years and a move to Virginia, he decided to slide into the area of computer and network security, working with Stephen Northcutt on the Shadow team. In 1999, Tim left the DoD to work at NEXTLINK Communications, a telecommunications company based in Seattle, Washington. Tim is currently working as a computer systems and security architect.

M. Dodge Mumford has been focusing on operational security and intrusion detection as the senior troubleshooter, support engineer, and trainer for Network Flight Recorder. He presented at SANS Network Security '98 conference and has written many Intrusion Detection N-Code filters. Prior to NFR, he performed various security tasks while working at BTG, Inc. He has been certified on various industry-related security products, including Checkpoint's Firewall-1, Axent's Raptor Firewall, and Wheelgroup's NetRanger. He has been an active network and security administrator for the last eight years.

Judy Novak has been a security analyst at the Army Research Laboratory Computer Security and Incident Response Team for over two years. She has worked in the computer field for over 20 years, focusing on mainframes, UNIX, and, most recently, the security field.

Larry Paccone has his M.S. in information systems and an M.A. in international affairs. He also possess several professional certifications in systems and network security, internetworking, WANs, Cisco routing, and Windows NT. Larry is currently the senior information/national security analyst at the Analytic Science Corporation. He spent five years as an Internet and systems security analyst and five years as a national security analyst.
