Chapter 12. Walk Before Running: Building an IPv6 Lab and Starting a Pilot

This chapter covers the following subjects:

• Sample lab topology: Create a simple topology that can be used when a near-real production environment is not replicated in the lab.

• Sample lab addressing: Create a simple IPv6 addressing plan that is more about the thought process of addressing hierarchy, rather than a baseline plan you should use as is.

• Configuring the networking devices: Use the configurations shown throughout this book as a baseline for configuring the networking devices inside the lab/pilot.

• Operating system, application, and management deployment: A network is useless without applications. This section shows some example ways to get operating systems, sample applications, and OS/Hypervisor/Application management tools deployed.

• Moving to a pilot: Not everything about IPv6 deployment is technical. There are political and business processes that are needed. This section summarizes a few of these considerations.
